ASK Italian
STARTERS: Baked Dough Balls and Butterfly King Prawns |
Once in awhile my family and I like to go to ASK Italian for a dinner. This is not a usual place we like to eat because we are Asian and don't tend to eat Italian food, however, we go here because of Tesco Clubcard points - These are points that you collect every time you spend money in Tesco on shopping. You can then go online and exchange these points into vouchers for so many things! My family like to spend our points on restaurants where we can try out new foods.
This is the 3rd time we've been to ASK Italian and we do really enjoy the food there. For starters we ordered 2 portions of Baked Dough Balls, one was chilli flavoured and the other was pepperoni. Along with these, we ordered Butterfly King Prawns. Only 5 king prawns were served in one dish, however this was a very lovely tasting dish and I wish I had order another plate of this haha (I love seafood, especially prawns)!
MAINS: The Verdure and Stromboli Pizza |
We ordered 6 mains between us 4 because we wanted to make the most of of £90 vouchers we had (No change or vouchers can be kept after the meal if all £90 is not spent, the vouchers pay for all the food excluding drinks). Of course the 2 pizzas were to share between us whilst we all ordered our individual dishes. We ordered the Verdure pizza, which was topped with artichokes, mushrooms, roasted peppers, Fontal cheese and olives dressed with rocket leaves. And then we just kept it simple for the second pizza and got the Stromboli pizza and that was just the normal pepperoni on a tomato and mozzarella base. I really liked the pizza here as they were thin and crisp, but not too crisp that it would just feel like eating biscuit!
MAINS: Aragosta E Gamberoni |
For my personal main dish, I got the Aragosta E Gamberoni (which seems to be taken off the menu recently). This was a seafood pasta dish which was said to contain prawns and lobster meat. I was disappointed with the amount of meat given to the cost of it and would say that it isn't worth the purchase if you were going here to eat. The sauce to the pasta was very tasty and smelt great, it wasn't too strong or overwhelming and went well along with the small pieces of lobster meat. Only a single king prawn was given with the dish which I felt was a bit little!
...Then desserts finally!
DESSERT: Fruit Sorbetti |
We ordered two of the Fruit Sorbetti which contained 3 scoops of fruit sorbet (raspberry, mango and coconut), these were topped with crispy biscuits and raspberry sauce. I didn't try these because I'm not too keen on eating sorbet, but the presentation of this dish was pleasing, cute and attractive. It seemed like attention to detail really paid off.
For my personal dessert, I got the Chocolate Etna. Hot
toffee sauce is poured over the dark chocolate cup at your
table, revealing a hidden scoop of vanilla gelato on top of a heavenly
hot chocolate fondant! The waitress came over and poured the hot toffee
sauce over the chocolate dome in front of me, however, it didn't seem to
work as planned and the chocolate dome only just started melting ever
so slightly once the waitress left our table haha. Nonetheless, it was
still an enjoyable and fun sight and it tasted great.
DESSERT: Chocolate Etna |
DESSERT: Chocolate Mousse |
Chocolate Mousse was the last dessert we ordered. This was a decadent chocolate mousse served with crispy biscuits, and an espresso on the side. I also really loved the display of this dessert as well! They all just looked so lovely and cute. I would definitely like to go to ASK Italian again (when we've saved up more Club points) because its a very nice and warm atmosphere. The presentation of the dishes are always visually pleasing making it more delightful to eat.
